Best Wedding Color Choices for Each Season

Anytime of the year would be a great time to get married. It is helpful to know which color palette is best for each season.

Winter (December, January, February)

A lot of people choose winter wonderland as their theme for this time of year. Think all-white, reds, and purples. These will be strong royal and opulent colors.

For December specifically, you can stick with the all-whites and reds. Also, incorporate silver and gold. Jeweled tones would be great too, such as emerald or Burgundy. In January, you can get away with some pastel shades, such as ice blue, baby blue, lavender, or dusty rose. Its wintertime and blue hues also apply. Even deeper blue like navy or midnight blue would work.

Of course for February we have Valentine’s Day! Red is the obvious choice for the holiday, so why not incorporate it into your wedding. Pink is another great color for February. There are many shades that you can play with.

Spring (March, April, May)

Spring is about rebirth and the colors should reflect that. Pastels will come into play now. Think light pinks, blues, purples, yellow. Greens, whites, and creams can also give off a timeless look. In March, some places are still getting out of the cold and into the rainy season. Maybe don’t go as light of a pastel until April/May. Some other options are Tiffany Blue, Chiffon Yellow, and Seafoam Green.

In April you will be in full spring mode. Now you can get more into your pastels. More specifically you can do a soft lemon, pistachio, or sky blue. This will be very good for outdoor weddings. May is a great time to get married. You can start introducing some of those summer colors as well later in May. Pastels can become a little bolder, such as cornflower blue, peony pink, canary yellow, and grass green.

Summer (June, July, August)

Now you can get really bold for a summer wedding. Vibrant pinks, oranges, and yellow would be beautiful for all your floral decorations. For June specifically, you can play around with a mix of light and bold colors. Since it’s also beach time, mix in some turquoise and other vibrant blue hues.

July is the heart of summer. Think of corals and peaches, true solstice colors. August is a little tricky, some consider it the end of summer, others the fall. Mix it up! Try to incorporate yellows, oranges, bold browns, and neutral greys. Good yellow hues would be goldenrod, sunflower yellow, saffron or dandelion. For oranges, we want to stick to pumpkin, tangerine, or dark salmon. Pair these with yellow, brown, ivory, pinks, burgundy, or greens. Your browns should be bold to remind people of autumn, such as chocolate brown. Neutral grays like pearl grey, dove grey, steel grey, and slate would mix well. Pair these with blues, violets, or purples. Avoid pairing yellows with pinks and greens, as it gives more of a springtime feel.

Fall (September, October, November)

Autumn is when we start to think about circling back to winter again, so it’s time to move to softer, earthier hues. Now you will see softer purples, greens, and reds. This is when we will see more rustic and muted tones.

September still has some of that hot summer weather, so a mix of fall and summer is still appropriate. Some examples are: Navy and Blush, Gold and teal, neutral colors, plum and gray, as well as burgundy and dusty.

October focuses a lot on oranges and yellows, but you don’t want it to feel too much like Halloween. Unless of course that is your theme. Neutral colors such as gold and copper work, as well as brown tones. This will also play into the rustic look.

For November, we start seeing winter coming into play a little bit. November does have Thanksgiving, so you might still see the orange, yellow, red, and brown hues.

Seeing as winter is coming, you can also use some of the muted and softer blues and purples, such as teal, fuchsia, and grape.

No matter what color scheme you opt for, you are sure to have an amazing wedding!
